Gain practical insights into managing contracts effectively through all stages of the lifecycle, from tendering and negotiating to risk management and contract administration.

Learn how to establish sustainable supplier relationships by streamlining the tendering and selection process, tracking supplier performance, mitigating risk, and handling disputes in a prompt and effective manner.

We explore the difficulties in construction in the last year or so, that has been driven by resource constraints (labour and materials), and discuss the risk of being locked into fixed price contracts in an environment where costs are escalating quickly.

Training Program

This 2 hour session provides attendees with an overview of the fundamental concepts of:

  • Construction law (in general) – We explore the general principles of construction law including legislation, common law principles, common construction contracts as well as we risk profile of contracts, and how even minor changes can have implications on your level of risk.
  • Time bars – How important are they, when do they start, and what if I miss one?
  • Notices of delay – What needs to be included, when do I issue it, and what if I don’t issue it?
  • Extension of Time – What information is required, what format should they be in, and how do concurrent delays work?
  • Liquidated damages – When am I liable for liquidated damages? How should I protect myself? and what is the impact of indemnities?

WHO IS THIS FOR ?

This workshop is a highly useful training in today’s economic climate for anyone involved in negotiating contract arrangements and managing contract implementation.

In a larger company this would be project managers and contract administrators, but in a small business this could be the owner/director.

Delivery

This facilitated training session is delivered face-to-face at our office in South Melbourne or online.
